Welcome back to Flash Week! Today is Day 2. Yesterday you brainstormed “story seeds” — the core of a flash fiction story you want to develop and write this week.
For today, you have to pick ONE of those ideas to work on. Got it? Good. (And if you missed Day 1 of Flash Week, go back and do it now.)
Here’s today’s exercise:
In stream of consciousness prose (not a list), brainstorm things that might end up in your story:
- Who might be a key character?
- What might be a good ending?
- What line or turn of phrase might appear?
In every sentence, use a word like “might” or “could” or “maybe.” Today’s notions can be vague, inconsistent, even mutually exclusive. If it’s something that might appear in a story about your story seed, write it down.
Got it? Great! Save it for tomorrow, when we’ll move from might to will and write a high-level outline of your Flash Week story. See you then!
